And today he rested. As it turned out, a wise idea too. It was one of those days where you didn’t do much but did much at the same time. I am sure you know what I mean. While a good motel, some of the guests not so. Dude in the room next to me must have has a hearing problem the TV was so loud. That or the walls were made of paper. Same dude and some of his friends (I assume) decided to have a loud conversation outside at 6am. Not your “where are you headed”, “what are the roads like ahead” conversation. More bar talk. I won’t repeat some of what I heard. Anyway, it lasted about an hour and I then slept till 10.
I spend the day roaming Charters Towers. Supplies sorted. I also picked up a CB radio as I knew the roads ahead are a bit average. Also stocked up on some desensitising teeth stuff like mouthwash. I don’t have a sweet tooth and don’t have much sweet stuff, but on this trip, I have been and it is playing havoc a bit.
Not many photos today. I did however last manage to capture the local wildlife sleeping

They were sleeping.
Up here it is road trains, B-Doubles or king/dual cab utes. They must have work related shyte in the back. They pretty much only come in white. Any other colour is considered a weird mutation. SUV’s and EV’s? Never heard of ’em. I did get partially aroused when I saw a late model WRX though.
Charters Towers was (and now is again) a gold town. There was a period when it just wasn’t financially viable to extract it. It is again now. The population was once over 20,000. Now it is 8,000. While quite a vibrant town, there are lots of empty stores. The ones that are occupied have way more space than needed. It also had the oversupply of pubs.
One thing I found quite amusing is seeing THE SAME guy on an e-scooter probably 10 times in the course of the day and evening. Gangs of youths on scooters and e-bikes are becoming common. I think he was trying to start a gang. He had not yet mustered up any followers. Kind of felt bad for the guy.
Song of the day: Old Town Road by Lil Nas X. Yes. I hired a horse and strutted on up the street like I owned the place.
