So the rack survived the ride. Quite well actually. I did consider just riding on with it. However, the rack is tilted to the side a bit and I can feel the bike pulling left so I am worried about the stress on the other side. Typical I turn up in Dubbo with lots of business hours left… but a public holiday. Anyway, two bike shops and a plethora of welders so that’s tomorrow mornings job. Whether I ride tomorrow will depend on how much phaffing to get the bike sorted is involved.
Today was pretty much a carbon copy of yesterday’s ride (minus flat tyres, yay!). It was undulations and forest out of Mendooran and then bam, open farmland for the last 30 or so km’s into Dubbo. I probably went harder than I needed to today. Probably because I had todays S.O.T.D in my head.
Didn’t really get many photo ops on the way. So here is just a random one. There were signs to beware of Malleefowl and Emu’s crossing. I did not see any. All I saw were goats. Stupid goats.

So it occurred to me today that this entire trip I haven’t yet paid homage to Australia’s favourite asshole road sign. These little shits are placed strategically at intervals as you approach the town. They serve no real purpose other than to demoralise you. It is bad enough in a car, but when you are counting down from 100 in increments of 10 or 20 on a bicycle, it is a bit of a sign slap in the face. Anyway, here is the stinky sock with one.

And again as I crossed the train line on approach to Dubbo.

Dubbo.. I did actually see some signs warning of Rhino crossing as well. You have to be careful of these wild beasts in these parts.

I found the war memorial, which I was quite impressed by. Quite large in a meticulously manicured garden/park. Well played Dubbo.

Did you know someone from Dubbo is known as a Dubboite? Thank me later…
So song of the day. This one was in my head today after hearing it early. And well, it does gee you up. Motley Crue’s “Kick Start My Heart”. Get it innaya!
